Red BridgePort Coquitlam, British Columbia
Red Bridge was designed to be a gateway to Port Coquitlam. The design team recognized how the city had a collection of elegantly designed public buildings, including both heritage and contemporary structures. The city wanted the same level of design quality to greet motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians as they approach Port Coquitlam from the Lougheed Highway. As a public facility, they wanted a bridge design that reflected the ongoing growth and sophistication of the community, and maintained a sensitivity to the river's edge.
